About

Things you should know about me:

  • I love spicy foods.  The spicier, the better.
  • I don’t have cable.  I watch Netflix or Hulu so I’m woefully behind on pop culture.
  • I’m passionate about art.  I’m a HUGE fan girl of people like Elsie Flannigan, Donna Downey, Julie Balzer, Dina Wakely, and dozens of others.  If you’ve never tried keeping an art journal, you must, it’s so much fun.
  • Humor is a huge turn on for me.  Seth Green, if you ever read my blog, you should know that I’d marry you, walk your dogs, or give you a kidney if  you ever ask.
  • I’m not an outdoorsy person.  The sun and I don’t agree, but when I can find a shady spot for reading or playing on my laptop, I manage.
  • World building is by far my favorite aspect of writing.  I have created several unique worlds perfect for harboring the supernatural creatures I love so much.  Someday I hope to find my world building soulmate and spend hours just discussing techniques for creating detailed believable story settings.
  • I’ve taken jobs in the past just because I thought they’d be interesting in a story someday. (On air personality for a radio station, anyone?)
  • I have a hard time coming up with things to say on Twitter and Facebook.  I REALLY hate talking on the phone though so I guess it’s an improvement over the old days of keeping in touch.  I miss IMs.  I need more than 140 characters to make sense.

Great stuff, and a wordpress blog to boot. You just gained a new follower.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever commented on someone’s “About” page. When I read “I miss IMs” it actually took me a second (okay, maybe a half-second) to remember IMs. I miss them, too!

Great blog you have here. Best of luck with your book.

Thanks for stopping by. For what it’s worth, I appreciate that you did take the time to comment on my about page. :)

Agreed on the phone thing. I resort to borderline antisocial behavior to get people to email or text instead. Written words, I understand. Talking to a disembodied voice, missing out on body language… I’ll feel like puking on my own shoes. I was lord of the IM when I was younger, but forums are my favorite form of communication.

Agreed also on spicy food. And world-building. And fuck cable TV.

That entire line right there could describe me as well. Especially the part about talking over the phone.

I’m liking the blog so far. +Follower for you ;P

It’s nice to meet you! I guess we’ll just email each other when we become best friends. ;)

Wren, thought I’d stop by to take a look at your blog. We have at least three things in common: Love of spicy food (I’m the original spice girl from Sichuan), dislike talking on the phone, and find humor a huge turn on :-) .

    Great blog!

You mean we have the three most important things in common. :)

I really like your blog, including your “About” page! World building is also my fave thing about writing- sometimes I get lost in my imagination and thoughts that i don’t even write it down :-s and yes, I hate talking on the phone too, although I spend most of my time talking on the phone (at work and at home ‘cuz clients, friends and family alike luv luv talking on the phone! just my luck…)

Like your ‘about page’. We recently got rid of cable too. Now, I watch what’s on the major networks, online, or on Netflix. I’m not an outdoorsy person either. I like the sun, but being outside… just blah. And I also need more that 140 characters to say something. I hate trying to shove it all together.

Congratulations on getting ‘freshly pressed.’ I just set up an author’s blog on World Press a few days ago (much overdo). Still messing around with styles and themes. Hope you keep getting tons of traffic to your website!

It’s dropped off a TON since I was FP, but it’s still higher overall than I was getting before and I’ve got a lot more subscribers. I haven’t posted a significant post since the other day though so we’ll see how it goes when I do.

I went to college in Oklahoma and visited Kansas whenever I could – reading one of Truman Capote’s description, I felt like I was sitting on the porch of the Clutter family home in Holcomb, Kansas. Spending a long weekend on one of the ranches there was something I’ll never forget.

Please, Please tell me that book two is almost ready. I got I wish as a free book on Amazon and literally read it from cover to cover in one sitting. I need more!! And yes, I’m almost 30 and I keep hearing “you’re too old for witches and vampires” but please….. I can’t take the suspense. I loved I wish!

You absolutely just made my day. Thank you so much for your comment!

Book 2 (Your Word is My Bond) is on track for an April release and book 3 (Reality Bender) should be out in June. In the meantime I’m working on releasing some short stories that tell a bit more back story on some of my favorite characters (Marla & Vanna, Olivia, and a nameless Hunter… there’s a really thankless job for you). I meant to get those out by the end of last week, but the long weekend put me behind a bit so hopefully I can get those out early next week instead.

If you have any questions you can find me on Facebook (personal and fan page) or on Twitter.

I share your passion for paranormal reading and I really love YA stuff in particular. I have no idea why. Christopher Pike and LJ Smith have some amazing retro paranormal YA reads (early 90s). I love them both and you can pick up the used paperbacks pretty much anywhere for practically nothing. Check them out if you haven’t already. Seriously!

Now why on earth does it tell me it’s going to give me nice looking links if it’s just going to paste out the whole URLs? /sigh

Who has two thumbs and can totally noob up simple replies? <—- this guy!
